For those of us who work in tick prevention every day, this is encouraging to see.
Ticks — and the diseases they can carry — have become a very real part of life in Nova Scotia. Lyme disease is often the one we hear about most, but blacklegged ticks in our province can also transmit Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis and Powassan virus.
The good news is that Nova Scotia isn’t standing still.
Research, better surveillance, new technologies, public education and practical prevention all have a role to play in reducing the risk to our families and pets.
