TickGuard’s Effectiveness Against Ticks (What You Need to Know)

by | Feb 25, 2026 | Local Alerts

TickGuard’s Tick & Mosquito barrier treatments, are highley effective at controlling ticks for 21-28 day repellency.

Repellency: TickGuard’s botanical-based treatments primarily act as a repellent, making the area uninviting to ticks.

Target Areas: Ticks typically wait on tall grass, shrubs, low vegetation, and lawns to latch onto a host. TickGuard’s  effective application treatments focus on these specific areas, including the perimeter of the yard, under decks, woodpiles, and up to a height of 5-6 feet on tree trunks and fences.

Application Frequency: For optimized tick protection, TickGuard treatments should be applied every 21-28 days.

Mowing Schedule: To maximize effectiveness, you should ideally mow your lawn a day or two before applying the product, and/or wait at least 48 hours, to mow after application.

*Temporary Scent – Because our treatment is garlic-based and plant-derived, you may notice a strong garlic scent immediately after application. The temporary scent is a small trade-off for an effective, eco-friendly tick control solution that’s safe for families, pets, and pollinators.

Combining product application with landscape management practices, such as keeping grass short, trimming shrubs, and clearing leaf litter, provides the best results for tick control.
